Specialists in Employability - Our team has a long and distinguished track record of researching and producing insight and recommendations in the area of talent, skills, leadership, employability, worklessness and welfare reform.

Our research team is led from the top by our CEO Toni C Eastwood OBE, MBA and our VP of Research, Dr Ross Moloney – see *Appendix One - Project Team – both have previously worked with Central Government as lead advisers on employability challenges including working with Graduates, Lone Parents, Women, SMEs, Military Leavers, First Generation Migrants, Young People, Ex-Offenders and Long Term Unemployed.

Eastwood has contributed to the development of national and regional strategies around, Women, Enterprise and Social Inclusion and has published research on:

  • Women in STEM

  • Leadership and the Glass Ceiling

  • Social Inclusion

As well as working in Central Government, Moloney went on to serve as the CEO of a UK Sector Skills Council where he successfully led the delivery of several interventions aimed at supporting the delivery of Employability Skills and the development of Industry Leading Occupational Standards.

Moloney leads on our Research and Insight Work, for both Private and Public clients. Insight is what we do, we take it seriously, and we are real experts/specialists in research methods and methodology.

  • Skills for Logistics - Transition of Military worker to civilian life

Moloney has previously conducted over 100 focus groups for a variety of clients, the highest profile being his work for and on behalf of the Transport Select Committee, and primary research into skills development for the Indian Government in New Delhi.  He is a highly skilled Primary Researcher and will be the ‘Face’ of our research at all times.    He will be assisted by our Research Project Lead, Gwenn Winters.

Winters has recently been working on the evaluation of Sheffield Working, during which she undertook qualitative interviews with young individuals, including Lone Parents, Care Leavers, Young Offenders, Ethnic Minorities and individuals with learning difficulties. These were developed into ‘Good News’ stories. Winters conducted analysis of the Local Labour Market, showcasing unemployment levels, particularly long term unemployment and young claimant trends.

Winters previously led on the Skills Assessment of the Sports, Creative and Cultural research conducted on behalf of SEMLEP, which involved extensive employer engagement.

Winters has also worked extensively designing and delivering some of our specialist Employability research, including working with key employers in the Yorkshire Region, along with SMEs and Young Graduates across Yorkshire. Leading to the development of the Eastwood, Moloney, Winters Employability Scale 2015.

SOCIAL LEADERSHIP

The Social Leadership Model, we have a very good understanding of this model and have indeed been delivering our own version of this in the field for over 3 years now, working closely with the third sector, Barnardo’s, and through the Milestone foundation with Lord Patel of Bradford, The Met Police, London Borough of Tower Hamlets. We’ve worked with JCP/DWP i.e. Department of Work and Pensions in Southend, Bromley, Lewisham, Leeds, Barnsley and Doncaster, local authorities in Bedfordshire and the local authorities of Doncaster and Leeds, as well as the Rank Group. We are currently working in the London Borough of Hackney with Care UK, the YMCA and The Princes Trust, to establish a new programme, whilst delivering in Bedford and Luton.

Our programmes especially work with young people, predominantly those who are NEET, from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, however many of the young people we work with are Graduates.

Our programme delivers a model of personal and social leadership, mapped to an ILM Young Leader Award. The programme is underpinned by our unique red threads around developing Resilience, Emotional Intelligence, Mindset, belief and Identity. And culminates in the candidates delivering high impact solutions and ideas to real live issues through community, voluntary and employer projects and employers. Our results are outstanding and 20 - 30% above national average for this group where 98% of our learners successfully complete their qualification and transition to further education, apprenticeships, employment and self-employment.

Emerging talent and skills – Leeds City Region and Sheffield

Our team have successfully delivered bespoke research programmes across Yorkshire, using our network of employers and experience of engaging with Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs), to provide a detailed understanding of their talent and skills requirements.

Upon delivering a successful commission and formal report, our team were asked to deliver a research project for the Skills Funding Agency in Sheffield. Our brief was to help and assist with community engagement with the traditionally ‘hard to reach’ audience – the Slovak, Roma Community.

Following the research stage, we were commissioned for a further project including the creation and delivery of innovative bespoke training to over 250 SME leaders and managers across the region in under 6 months, this included:

  • Large and Tier One Employers in Infrastructure, Transport, Logistics and Construction

  • SMEs Business Owners and Directors

  • Young People in Leeds City Region

Plus a Community Champion and Train the Trainer programme for Immigrants in the Roma Slovak Community in Sheffield and a tailored programme for 75 hard to engage unemployed people in South Yorkshire.
