Information on Learner Loans
Advanced learner loans are available for individuals aged 24 or above (soon to be 19 and above) to undertake approved qualifications at Levels 3 and 4, at an approved provider in England. Advanced learner loans give individuals access to financial support for tuition costs similar to that available in higher education and are administered by Student Finance England.
Advanced learner loans are paid directly to the college or training organisation on behalf of you, the learner, the loans are paid on a monthly basis.
If you the learner drops out of the course or your learning circumstances change you need to inform us straight away and the monthly payments will cease.
The Loans are not means tested or subject to credit checks and any individual who meets the criteria will be able to apply for a loan regardless of their current employment status
Loans are available to eligible learners who are:
aged 19 or older on the first day of their learning aim
studying in England, with a provider in receipt of a loan facility (which beyond 2030 has)
studying one or more approved learning aims at Levels 3, 4, 5, or 6
the learner must be uk resident or Euro with leave to work and study – this must be evidenced
Repayments start the April following the completion of your course.
You, the learner will pay back your loan (plus interest) when you finish your course and earn more than £21,000 a year. Your repayments will stop if your income drops below £21,000 a year.
Your annual repayment amount will be 9% of any income you earn over £21,000.
Monthly repayments would be:
£7.50 a month – if you earned £22,000 a year
£30 a month – if you earned £25,000 a year
